4th of July Parade

I love a parade, doesn't everyone? Its just something about the bands, floats, and participants that makes it so much fun!

If you're going to be in town on the 4th of July, remember to put out your flags and come out to the parade in Farragut. It will be held at 9:30 AM, and will close Kingston Pike from Concord Road through Boring Road between 8:30 AM and NOON.

Just remember, it's illegal to play with fireworks in Knox County.

Have a safe and pleasant 4th of July!

Let us know if you find a better place. I am not so sure you will. So much of this is parents that let their kids run wild. This is happening everywhere. When you move you will just trade one set of problems for another different set.

You could go downtown and live in a loft. Then you have drunks and beggars instead of teenagers and their absentee parents. Go to East Knoxville and the problems are the same as West Knoxville. You trade yuppie snobs that break the law for mean rednecks that break the law. I hear Fourth and Gill is a slice of Heaven. Maybe so. If you don't mind living next to the Interstate. I used to like South Knoxville but it will soon be condoized.

Get a rubber mailbox and work with your neighbors to form a neighborhood watch. We can complain about Farragut or do something about it. What Farragut needs is more police patrols and for parents to be parents instead of best friends to their kids. Lets get the police patrols and see if the parents will step up after junior has to be bailed out of jail.

Some of the previous posts have me thinking of moving inward. The continued sprawl stretches our school system very thinly. I can't believe that we're building another school to accomodate our sprawl while eliminating teacher positions, foreign language and other assets. The identity of Farragut's enemy is quickly becoming obvious---the only tool you need to see it is a mirror.

What does that mean? Really, how is Farragut its own enemy?

Fourth & Gill (http://www.fourthandgill.org) is a nice neighborhood but no neighborhood is nirvana. Most of Fourth & Gill will be located no closer to the new I-40 than SweetBriar or several of the subdivisions on the north side of Grigsby Chapel.

Regarding anonymous's enemy post, I have to agree. We are like lemmings clinging to the shiny and new and wanting to be around those "like us". Look at our homes are so similar in design and how we must have the fashionable yet unneeded SUV then look at our only chain restaurants seem to succeed in and around our Farragut. This shows a lack of diversity which you will not find in Old North Knoxville (http://www.oldnorthknoxville.org), Fourth & Gill, Island Home, Mechanicsville or Parkridge.

Yeah. Old North Knoxville doesn't have billboards offering rewards for girls murdered in W. Knox and they aren't finding dead bodies there either.
Farragut sucks and I'm moving to one of these beautiful old 'hoods.

Hold it. All this negative talk does nobody any good unless they're willing to come up with solutions that work! Now, I agree that we need to watch out for our kids and each other, but moving out only gains you another set of issues that you won't know about until you're there.

I'm sorry Daliwood feels that the only solution is to move, but that is his own perogative. I personally would prefer to encourage more law enforcement (but unless we get our own PD, its never gonna happen because our county sheriff is overworked and thinly spread out).

We need to participate more in our own community, otherwise we will end up the exact opposite of what we want to be.

Off the soapbox...

I agree with the perosn who hates Farragut!!! I moved here 5 years ago from Virginia Beach, VA. lived also in florida. I hate Farragut. The people here are rude and snutty!! I have an ill son who is ony 8. He has a serious life condition. Instead of my neighbors saying can we help you, they say, your flowers in your flower bed are dieing!! You need to replant new ones. OR We are painting our home you need to pain yours also. ETC... Never once asking if I need help on my various trips to the Childrends Hospital. And it is ok for the board members to brake rules, like build play houses in their back yards but heaven forbid any one else to, or their frineds to park in the street, but heaven forbid you do , ot the exd president of the home owner assoc. to use his house for a ware house but heaven for bid you do!! WELCOME TO FARRAGUT!!!! NO, ALL places are not like this, my sister lives her and not in this side of town and she has a great neighborhood. I lived 20 years in Virginia
Beach, VA and had great deighbors and friends. We have been hearing fire works for days in our neighborhood. Even the parents are doing them. Even at the pool at night, and no one cares it is against the law. You can hear them for half hour to an hour. No cops are called!!! I agree, sorry , FArragut needs alot of work as a town and a community!!

Yes, fireworks are blown on many weekends and it is at the very least annoying and not called for and a more responsive police would be good. But as far as a place to live Farragut is not bad as a bedroom community. We must consider what we have compaired to the whole. We should also consider having a police force.

you guys are turning the 4th into a negative thing when it should be positive. O no some kids shoot off fireworks it does not even matter. you all should get used to it because no matter where you go people are going to shoot off fireworks. I think it should be legal for the whole 4th weekend to shoot off fireworks.
